CelsiusPro AG is an Insurtech company based in Zurich specialized in industrializing index insurance solutions to mitigate the effects of adverse weather, climate change, and natural catastrophes. We aim to increase resilience against NatCat and adverse weather events, combine risk management with data science, simplify, digitalize and automate the risk management process.

The Technology Team develops risk management solutions, modelling and analytics tools and web-based platforms for corporations, insurers, brokers, governmental agencies, industry bodies, cooperatives and agribusiness companies. We are looking to recruit an additional Modeller to expand our capabilities at deploying our products to our client platforms.

You are going to be the link between our Research & Development and our Software Engineering teams and therefore ideally have a background straddling both worlds.

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Make the R&D code base more robust and scalable.

  • Write server-side and, to a lesser extent, front-end code for web-based applications.

  • Support your colleagues in the R&D team through code and architectural review.

  • Work with key stakeholders across the company to ensure successful product releases.

  • Perform analytics and visualisations for index-based insurance products and schemes.

  • Statistical modelling: Empirical models for Natural Catastrophes (tropical cyclones, earthquakes), meteorological events (drought, heavy rainfall), etc.

You have:

  • Extensive experience with R and Python, including package development.

  • R shiny, (REST) API development, CI/CD, Object-Oriented Programming.

  • Experience with Databases (MongoDB, bigQuery, etc.), Clusters (Spark, docker, kubernetes, docker swarm...) and geospatial data (e.g. geojson, s2).

  • Experience working with large and complex datasets.

  • Strong mathematical foundation with particular focus in modelling, statistics, probability, and/or computational science.

  • Team player who thrives in multidisciplinary environments and likes to share knowledge.

  • A self-driven personality with the ability to execute a project from start to finish.

  • The ability to efficiently get familiar with new code bases.

  • Relevant experience in natural catastrophe modelling is a plus.

  • MSc or PhD in science or engineering.

You like clean code and good documentation, have experience in developing code as a team, and are not afraid of working with Terabytes of data. Maybe you have experience with agile or scrum. You have excellent interpersonal skills, a sense of responsibility and proactivity and effective verbal and written communication in English; German is a plus.

Candidates must have Swiss or EU citizenship or Swiss work permit.

We offer a dynamic and international working environment linking climate change risks, index insurance and reinsurance. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with leading-edge technologies for geographical data analysis and big data. CelsiusPro consists of a data-driven, motivated, and talented young team. If you are open for a new exciting challenge, please send us your complete application including your cover letter and CV by email.
