CelsiusPro has joined the InsuResilience Global Partnership

CelsiusPro is proud to announce its membership in the InsuResilience Global Partnership, joining a community dedicated to strengthening the resilience of developing countries against the impacts of climate change and natural disasters.

Natural catastrophes, extreme weather events as well as climate change are threatening lives, livelihoods, and property of poor and vulnerable communities across the globe.

The Swiss InsurTech company CelsiusPro specializes in providing parametric insurance technology solutions and advisory services to mitigate the risks of adverse weather and natural disasters. It has its focus on climate risk and big data solutions. Engaged in strengthening the resilience of communities and businesses against weather-related catastrophes, CelsiusPro is proud to join the InsuResilience Global Partnership. The main objective of the partnership is to protect the lives and livelihoods of poor and vulnerable people against the impacts of disasters, and to enable more timely and reliable disaster response by using climate and disaster risk finance and insurance solutions – helping poor and vulnerable people to recover faster and strengthening local resilience over time.

Mr. Mark Rüegg, CEO of CelsiusPro, explains: «We are excited to work with more than 75 partners from governments, civil society, international organizations, the private sector, and academia that are committed to build financial protection for the poor and vulnerable against the impact of natural disasters under the InsuResilience Global Partnership.»

Dr. Astrid Zwick, Head of the InsuResilience Secretariat, adds: «We are pleased to be working closely with CelsiusPro to support the development of climate and disaster risk finance and insurance solutions to help meet growing needs in developing countries. This ultimately strengthens resilience by enabling faster, more reliable and cost-effective responses to disasters.»

CelsiusPro has a long record of supplying inclusive climate insurance solutions to achieve higher resilience for the affected communities. The company has contributed to insurance solutions in more than 50 countries, protecting communities from catastrophes such as tropical cyclones, floods, heavy rainfall, and drought. CelsiusPro’s parametric insurance solutions are based on public data from space agencies and met offices. The payout is linked to the intensity of the event and does not require a lengthy evaluation process of the damage incurred. Therefore, parametric insurance payments can be distributed very quickly and efficiently, which is critical for the survival and the future economic prosperity of the affected areas.
