Founded in 2008, CelsiusPro is a Swiss Insurtech company that specializes in industrializing index insurance solutions to mitigate the effects of adverse weather, climate change and natural catastrophes. We aim to:

• increase resilience against NatCat and weather events,
• combine risk management with data science,
• simplify, digitalize and automate the risk management process.

We are a global leader as full service provider for risk modelling, underwriting and the administration of index-based risk management products and consultancy in the context of weather risk and natural catastrophes.

Board of Directors

Thomas D. Meyer
Chairman of the Board

Thomas is a partner of BLR & Partners, a Swiss advisory and investment boutique with a group of seasoned professionals with complementary business backgrounds, seeking active industrial and financial participations. Thomas was working for more than 30 years with Accenture and for 17 years as Managing Director and CEO Accenture Switzerland and Head of Accenture Digital Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Russia, as well as Insurance Industry Lead Europe, Africa and Latin America Accenture Group. Next to his engagement with CelsiusPro, he is currently the Chairman of Sunrise Communications Group AG, Chairman of Stoosbahnen AG and member of the board of several other companies and institutions in Switzerland. Thomas holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen.

Mark Rüegg
CEO / Delegate of the Board

Mark founded CelsiusPro in 2008 with the view that climate change is a mega trend and affects the bottom line of companies and therefore new risk transfer products are pivotal. Mark was on the BoD of the Weather Risk Management Association (WRMA) 2012-2016. Mark has held various positions with Swiss Bank Cooperation and UBS in the area of FX, Rates and Collateral Trading as well as FX prime Brokerage Sales and trading platforms. Mark is a CFA Charter holder and has an MBA in Economics from the University of Rochester/Bern.

Dr. Stephan Hostettler
Member of the Board

Stephan is Managing Partner of his independent consulting firm, and has been active as an entrepreneur and consultant in Switzerland, the USA, Europe and other international markets since 2002. His consulting firm Hostettler&Company is specialized in implementing sustainable value-based corporate governance. Furthermore, Stefan is lecturer for Corporate Governance at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). Prior to this, he worked in Switzerland for a major bank in the area of financial analysis and in the USA in consulting on corporate finance and corporate governance.

Gabriela Lippe-Holst
Member of the Board

Gabriela is serving as Executive Chairwoman of Acqupart Holding AG an international investment management company based in Switzerland. Prior to starting her own company Gabriela worked for Swiss Re Group for more than a decade and was appointed Managing Director. During her international career she held various executive positions with management and P&L responsibilities in risk as well as legal management in Zurich and New York with geographical responsibilities extending to Latin America. She is currently serving as Vice President of the board of the Latin America Chamber of commerce in Switzerland. Gabriela holds a master in Law from the University of Neuchâtel and an L.L.M in international business law with a published thesis on the Gulf Monetary Union from the University of Zurich. She is admitted to the Swiss bar and is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and an alumna of IMD Business School. She is also board member elect to the American Swiss Foundation in New York.

Sebastian Glink
CTO / Chief Technology Officer

Sebastian is our Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He is leading the development of white label platform solutions, including CelsiusPro`s Big Data Architecture accessing and processing terabytes of environmental data. He is responsible for R&D related to natural catastrophe risk modelling and the implementation of analytic tools with the aim to structure and price parametric insurance products. Sebastian is specialized in understanding the needs and challenges of weather-affected industries as well as developing scalable software solutions by using data science and predictive analytics approaches. He has been working for leading private weather service providers for over 10 years, where he has been part of the executive management team, responsible for the business sectors insurance, retail and agriculture. Sebastian holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and Geophysics from the University of Innsbruck and a Master in Business Intelligence from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences.

Simone Thompson
Head Business Development and Growth

Simone heads Business Development and Growth at CelsiusPro. Her role spans branding, marketing and communications through sales and consulting. She spent the predominant part of her career working in finance across a wide range of positions. From 2012-2017, she held the position of Chief of Staff to the President of UBS Wealth Management, heading the Executive Office as well as a number of cross-bank key strategic programs. She left the bank in 2018, and has since consulted impact focused companies in their set up. Prior work experience includes Zurich Financial Services, Unilever, and Young & Rubicam. Throughout her career she has been very active in diversity, philanthropy, and sustainability and holds a number of board positions in those areas. She holds an Honours degree, Bachelor of Law with French (LLB), has studied finance and behavioural economics at Harvard Business School and is an alumni of INSEAD (AMP).

Jonathan Barratt
CEO CelsiusPro Australia Pty Ltd

Jonathan has been involved in the financial markets for the last 30 years having obtained experience in the Australian, London and Hong Kong markets. He holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of New England as well as a Graduate Diploma of Corporate Law from the University of Sydney. Jonathan is a Senior Associate of ANZIFF and FINSIA and has a proficient knowledge in all aspects of OTC derivatives, foreign exchange, commodity futures and equities markets. He has been CEO of CelsiusPro Australia Pty Ltd. since 2012.
