Wet Royal Welsh 'to lose £300k', Royal Welsh Show organisers say they are expecting the poor weather at the 2007 event to lead to a £300,000 loss. Gate receipts were down £447,000 on last year but losses could have hit £4m if the show had been cancelled, said the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society. The four-day show had an attendance of 200,000 visitors in the worst weather since 1958, said the society.

New Forest show in £200,000 loss. The New Forest County Show made a loss of £200,000 this year due to bad weather but will still go ahead next year, its chief executive has said. Visitor numbers were down from 100,000 to 68,500, which cost the show about £100,000, Richard Cuzens said. Tens of thousands of pounds also had to be spent on making walkways to help people get about in muddy conditions, also contributing to the loss. It would have cost £650,000 to cancel the event, he said. The three-day Hampshire show is a celebration of traditional country pursuits, costing on average £1.3m to stage.
